Have you ever wondered what Google will name it’s new version of Android? Although quite a number of suggestions had been seen online, the “N” still remains a mystery, or….. you wanna give it a try now? Ok hit me with your best shot! …………. that would be enough, i guess soon we will find out if you were right or wrong.
Thanks to the Android team, we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out what the “N” means. Today, the team posted an update across their social media channels saying “Thanks for your submissions. We’ll reveal the new name in a few weeks!”.
Ever since Android 1.5, the internet giant has named versions of Android after desserts. We’ve seen Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean, KitKat, Lollipop and Marshmallow. You noticed Google does this in an alphabetical order, next is the N.
Last month after Google I/O, Google began accepting submissions from fans for what the name should be. Even though the company might have chosen the name long ago, it still feel good for fans to have say, there have been guesses like Nutmeg, Nougat, Nut Brittle, Nutella etc.. most people seem to go with the name Nutella, why not?… who doesn’t love Nutella? well unless you are allergic to chocolate, which isn’t likely.
Google already released 3 developer previews for Android N. The company will push out two more previews before the final build is available. Lets see what the nest big “N” will be….. ooo wait here is my suggestion… #thinking…. sorry cant think of anything new all has been said already.
Android “N” is the codename of an upcoming release of the Android mobile operating system. It was first released as a developer preview on March 9, 2016, with factory images for current Nexus devices, as well as a new “Android Beta Program” which allows supported devices to be upgraded directly to the Android “N” beta via an over-the-air update. The stable release of the operating system is expected in mid-2016.
