Apple counts over 1 billion active devices in the world

The CEO Apple Incorporated, Tim Cook has announced that the total number of active Apple devices has surpassed  1 billion.  Of course, Apple has shipped and sold far more than a billion devices in the past, in-fact the company sold its billionth iOS  device back in November 2014. But right now, the company has counted over a billion active devices, from iPhone, iPad, Apple watch and the Mac, which are in regular use communicating with both the apple store and icloud. “This is an unbelievable asset for us,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in an investor conference call Tuesday.

The iPhone remains the best selling device and over 74.78 million iPhone’s has been sold so far in the first quarter of the year 2016 making the iPhone the company largest contributor in its 18.9 billion profit on sales of 75.9 billion marking the most profitable quarter of any single public corporation in history. Also, Apple Inc predicted the revenue for the second quarter of the year will be between $50 and $53 billion dollars.

This is the first time Apple disclosed the number of its devices in use. It is certain that more growth opportunity for newer devices such as the Apple Watch will be recorded soon.

It was incorporated as Apple Computer, Inc. on January 3, 1977, and was renamed as Apple Inc. The American multinational technology company designs, develops, and sells consumer electronics, computer software, and online services. Its hardware products include the iPhone smartphone, the iPad tablet computer, the Mac personal computer, the iPod portable media player, and the Apple Watch smartwatch. Apple’s consumer software includes the OS X and iOS operating systems, the iTunes media player, the Safari web browser, and the iLife and iWork creativity and productivity suites. Its online services include the iTunes Store, the iOS App Store and Mac App Store, and iCloud. Apple is headquartered in Cupertino, California.
