Two brothers, Vincenzo and Giacomo Barbato, successfully won a legal battle against Apple and earned the right to name their company after Apple’s founder ‘Steve Jobs’. According to Vincento and Giacomo, they first registered the trademark Steve Jobs in 2012 although they weren’t inspired by Jobs black turtlenecks and jeans.
The innovator per excellence was steve Jobs, this was the spark
Apple legal department immediately sent the brothers court documents but the brothers won the case although that didn’t stop Apple lawyers as they continued to fight the brothers over their company’s logo, a letter ‘J’ with a chunk taken out of it and a little leaf on top. Apple also lost the case as the court said the letter J was not a fruit and therefore the missing chunk can’t be a bite like the one on the Apple’s apple.
In the meantime, the Barbados brothers have been producing all kinds of clothings and accesories under the name as the brothers claim to have full legal rights to use both the name and logo and they plan to push forward with plans to expand their product lines even to electronics.
They say they are looking for partnership and are in talks for a production of electronic products with a chinese brand. If they are serious about making an android based phone with the name Steve Jobs, then they haven’t seen the end of Apple lawyers.
