After the just concluded iPhone press conference 2017, the iphone 8 and iPhone X were officailly released. The iPhone 8 and 8 plus are clearly the successors of 7 and 7s but the iPhone X is a whole new package, totally different from what you’d expect from the company.
Due to the changes made by the phone makers which includes a buttonless all-screen design, first of its kind, you would have to relearn how to use the iPhone especially if you have previously been an iPhone user. This is because, despite the fact that the iconic home button is gone, all the features associated with that button are still there, but how can you access them?
Here are some few tips on how the iPhone X works
To unlock the screen
You used to press the home button to get you to lock the screen of any Apple device but now you’ll have to raise the handset or tap the screen to bring it to life and then unlock with FaceID.
To get to home screen
Swiping from the bottom takes you to the home screen instead of pressing the home button like you usuaully would on other iOS devices
An incomplete swipe up, is all you need to do, it’s just like swiping up to get to the home screen but this time you won’t complete the swipe, you pause. So no more double press on home button to multitask.
Still the same except that you are not going to press and hold the home button, but the standby button on the side of the phone.
This would require some getting used to, you would have to swipe down from the top to open the Control Centre, instead of the swipe up.
Apple said on iPhone X page to swipe down from the right ear of the phone.
A double-click on the side button will help you to verify your mobile payments with Apple Pay.
To go back to the previous app, you can now swipe right at the bottm of the screen, this is a total new feature which previous iPhones don’t have.
Now, aside the lack of finger print sensor, the iPhone X also seems to lack the Reachability feature, which helps to access the top side of the screen when using just one hand but i know you’ll manage.
Here’s a short clip introducing the iPhone X
iPhone is a line of smartphones designed and marketed by Apple Inc. These range of phones runs on Apple’s iOS. Apple has released ten generations of iPhone models with each having a suffix that particular generation. These generations have also been accompanied by one of the ten major releases of its iOS operating system. The first generation iPhone was released on June 29, 2007; the most recent iPhone model is the iPhone X.
iPhone X is a phablet designed, developed, and marketed by Apple Inc. Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the iPhone X on September 12, 2017, alongside the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus at the Steve Jobs Theater in the Apple Park campus. The phone is slated for release on November 3, 2017. This iPhone marks the iPhone’s tenth anniversary, with “X” being the symbol for “ten” in Roman numerals.
Within Apple’s line-up, the iPhone X is positioned as a high-end, premium model intended to showcase advanced technologies. Leaks, including those from case manufacturers, as well as HomePod firmware and the final version of iOS 11, revealed various aspects of the device prior to its unveiling, including the fact that it would have a nearly bezel-less design and no physical home button, an OLEDdisplay, dual cameras with improved depth sensing, and a face recognition unlock system known as Face ID.
