New God of War: Kratos might end up becoming “more human”

god of war 4

Last week during E3 2016, Sony announced a new god of War title. This new title looked different from what we’ve seen before because a new individual was introduced, Kratos’ son, the spartan warrior is now a father. Several folks i came across said this might make Kratos weaker and soft unlike before. Well, one cant really say for now, all i know is that Kratos looks older, which of course is a normal thing, has a son who will likely humanize him and also has a certain burst of rage which makes him stronger! until the game is released we will give you certain bits of information which will give you a clear view of what is to be expected.

Sony game’s director Cory Barlog in an interview with Spanish website Level Up (via GameSpot) confirmed that the new god of war title will not have multiplayer feature, this functionality was previously introduced in God of War 3. Most god of war fans didn’t really care about the multiplayer, lots of emphasis was placed on the action and story in singleplayer mode.

With Kratos son introduced to the spotlight i was forced to say he might take up Kratos role very soon, but in a statement made by Barlog, fans of the God of War franchise would be seeing more of Kratos and this wouldn’t be the last title in the series

Also while speaking with VentureBeat, Barlog said the new god of war was influenced by canceled Star Wars TV show, and will offer ‘more diverse emotional palette’. Additionally he said when he worked at LucasArts, he visited the Skywalker Ranch where he got to read the scripts for the canceled live-action Star Wars TV show. This influenced the tone and direction for the new title.

Although fans should still expect lots of action in the new title, Barlog said the shift to a more “thoughtful” game was intentional.

“I saw that people were accepting bigger games that didn’t have to shout all the time,” he explained. “I thought this was an opportunity for us. It’s cool to get in and be able to tell stories in a much more diverse emotional palette. We were always kind of, ‘RAAARGH!'”

Remember we spoke about a certain burst of anger right? Barlog talked about the new approach to Kratos, using a Hulk/Bruce Banner analogy. “In that previous era of games, he was the Hulk all the time, 24/7, because he didn’t know how to be Bruce Banner,” Barlog said. “And in this iteration, the son is teaching him how to be human, it’s bringing out that closeted humanity that he stamped down for so long.”

Originally Kratos voice actor was T.C. Carson, in the new god of war Stargate SG-1 actor Christopher Judge will taken over as the voice of Kratos. Also the game the game will be set after the events of third game and wont be set in an open world, though Barlog says it is “open.” And Kratos son? few details have been revealed about the child, even his name is yet to be revealed likewise the identity of his mother. There is no set date for the game release yet.

God of War is an action-adventure video game series loosely based on Greek mythology, created by David Jaffe. Debuting in 2005, the series has become a flagship title for the PlayStation brand, consisting of seven games across multiple platforms. An eighth installment is currently in development; it will be a soft reboot for the series and will be loosely based on Norse mythology. The series’ story centers around its playable character, Kratos, a Spartan warrior tricked into killing his wife and daughter by his former master, the God of War Ares. Kratos kills Ares at the behest of the goddess Athena and takes his place as the new God of War, but is still haunted by the nightmares of his past. Revealed to be a demigod and the son of Zeus, the King of the Olympian Gods who betrays Kratos, the Spartan then seeks revenge against the gods for their machinations. What follows is a series of attempts to free himself from the influence of the gods and the Titans and exact revenge. Each game chapter forms part of a saga with vengeance as a central motif.
