Today Google has introduced something wonderful to aid our daily movements, the Offline Navigation and Search on Google Maps.
This is the first time locations and directions can be gotten without having to be online. Many a times due to poor connection or when totally out of data, people get stranded and would resort to using a more stressful approach to locating a place or navigating. But thanks to this new development, search for particular destination, driving directions and other useful information can be done offline.
This offline Google Maps works perfectly with the online maps and would still deliver accurate information even when internet/data connection is out. So there practically would be no difference between being online or offline. When areas are downloaded by searching for places, Google maps will automatically switch to the Offline mode if you are recognized to being with no connectivity at all or with spotty service. And when connection comes back on, it goes back online to access live traffic conditions on your immediate route.
According to Google, areas would be downloaded when connected to wifi, by default. This is to avoid quick running out of data. This new upgrade promises to advance more and also become available to other devices soon.
