Google, during its I/O developers conference, hosted the inaugural Google Play Awards, a celebration of the most outstanding achievements in games and apps over the last year.
Although there are tons of apps and games on the Google Play Store, the fact remains, that some stand out from the others. Google has helped us to differentiate the best from the rest by picking 10, each from a different category, ranging from games to productivity.

Here’s a run down of the Google Play Awards 2016 winners;
Best game: Clash Royale
Quite similar to the popular and addictive Clash of Clans, Clash Royale is a real-time multiplayer card battle game. You build up a deck of cards featuring the Clans characters and use them to defeat others online. Made by Supercell, the game reached 1 million downloads after launching. Download free here.

Best go global: Pokémon Shuffle Mobile
Who can resist Pokemon titles? formerly on other platforms and now on mobile, Pokemon shuffle is a match-three game where you collect cute monsters and battle using them so as to collect other Pokemon along the way. Download free here.

Table Tennis Touch is a ping pong game for mobile that gets difficult as you progress. It features career modes, plus mini games and multiplayer online action. Best standout indie: Alphabear
Alphabear is a mix of Scrabble and word puzzle game. In this game, you spell words through letter bricks seen on screen, this then turns into bears when successfully chosen. Robinhood is a Stock market app, it offers free trading. Unlike other services, with Robinhood you don’t have to pay a commission on buying and selling stocks. A nice looking app, thats why it made its way to the Best Use of Material Design. Download free here.

Houzz gives access to millions of pictures of interior design ideas including places to buy furniture and fittings, it also enables users to place and draw objects onto photos so you can have a view of how an item would look like in your house.
