Microsoft has unveiled its first laptop, the Surface book, from afar you will almost mistake it for a MacBook Pro, but this isn’t just a laptop it is a tablet as well, the screen can be detached from its keyboard and when the screen is attached back, it can be flipped and used as a convertible.
The Surface Book has a 13.5-inch display, a backlit keyboard, machined magnesium body and a trackpad made of glass, it has a touch screen display with a pixel density of 267 ppi, 2 USB 3.0 ports and the battery life can run for about 12hours on a single charge. Speaking of performance the Surface Book has the latest generation of the Intel core processor (Skylake family) and a discrete Nvidia GPU with GDDR5 memory. According to Microsoft, this is the fastest 13-inch laptop ever made.
For a Laptop with such impressive features one should expect it to be on the high side, the price ranges from $1,499 (for the 128GB/8GB Core i5, Intel HD graphics configuration) to $2,699 (512GB/16GB, Core i7, NVIDIA GPU). The Surface Book would be available on October 26 but can be pre-ordered today, October 7.
With this device Microsoft now competes with brands such as Macbook Pro, though according to Microsoft, the component the Surface Book houses makes it twice as fast as the Macbook Pro, one could boldly agree to this since the Surface Book has a discrete Nvidia GPU version, whereas the Macbook Pro for now doesn’t.
Would you give the Microsoft brand a try? feel free to leave comments.
