Earlier on we told you that Microsoft launched a new console, the Xbox One S, a revised version of the original Xbox One hardware with a streamlined form factor and 4K support. Today the tech company has finally given it a release date, the $399 2TB launch edition will be available in selected regions on August 2nd, you could probably get the Xbox One S in time for launch by preordering from Microsoft directly or through retailers like Amazon.
Xbox One S is 40 percent smaller than the original Xbox One, adds support for 4K / HDR video, features an IR blaster and comes with a revamped Xbox wireless controller with textured grip and Bluetooth connectivity.
(Xbox One S controller will launch separately on August 2nd for $59.99). At E3 Microoft also announced Project Scorpio “the most powerful console ever”, which is coming in fall 2017. Will you wait for Project Scorpio? a high-end model with upgraded hardware; in addition to 6 teraflops of graphical performance, featuring an eight-core CPU with 320 gigabits of memory bandwidth, or go for the Xbox One S.
Consoles with smaller hard drives (1TB and 500GB) won’t be hitting stores just yet.
