A recent rumor suggests that the PlayStation 4.5 or 4K will be released during this year’s Holiday season for $400. The rumor was from a video uploaded by Rooster Teeth’s The Know, a multimedia channel based in Austin Texas.
Not only can we confirm the PlayStation 4.5 is real, but we can also share its price and release date!
Apart from the release date and price, the source also states that developers are already developing games for Sony’s upgraded PS4 system, although these games will also work on the standard PS 4 system, a performance increase will be noticed when they are played on the PS 4.5 based on the extra horsepower that comes with the upgraded system. Earlier on a blog post from Kotaku states that Sony plans on making an upgraded PS4, Eurogamer confirmed the report saying that Sony’s R&D labs already have a prototype of the PlayStation 4.5 which is likely to use the recent generation of microprocessor, the new 14/16nm microprocessor technology. For now Sony hasn’t said anything concerning this.
Based on rumors so far, the PlayStation 4K will feature an upgraded GPU which will offer an increase in performance compared to the former and will support high-end 4K resolution for games (that’s about 4 times the resolution of the standard PlayStation 4 system).
