Recent statements have made us to believe that there may really be an upgraded ps4 “Neo”, a graphically improved version of the standard PS4, running the same games as the original machine but with better visuals. Although reliable sources have surfaced online with several hints of that happening, it was all still under the subject of “speculation”.
That been said, with or without the enhanced PS4, fans are already clamouring for details on the next proper PlayStation console, which of-course would be the PlayStation 5. Why wont they? especially with recent rumors of the enhanced PS4, i often ask my self “Where does that leave the next generation console? Will there even be a PlayStation 5? with an enhanced PS4 you will agree with me there wouldn’t even need to be a PlayStation 5.
I think the head of Sony thinks the same, why? well, Oddworld’s creator, Lorne Lanning got some quality time with PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida to hint him on the PS5. During a video podcast with Game Informer, Lanning detailed a discussion he had with Yoshida: “I said, ‘What does the PlayStation 5 look like?’ And he said, ‘You mean if…’ And I was like, ‘Whoa. Are you willing to say that on stage?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, it’s an if.’ He didn’t give me a clear answer, said Lanning, but he’s hinting that we need to be more agile. None of us know what the future looks like, so how do we adapt to it faster?”
Clearly, the game chief expressed uncertainty as to whether there will actually be a PlayStation 5. The “if” statement has obviously taken me off the “PS5 anticipation camp!”.
Given that an upgraded PS4 is coming soon followed by recent talks on a similar concept for the Xbox One, it seems we are close to the end of huge new revamped machines and welcoming the era of upgrading gaming consoles.
You can watch the interview below.
Clearly, Sony’s boss has stunned you and by admitting he’s ‘unsure’ if there if would be a PS5. That been said, can we still classify the enhanced PS4 dubbed “Neo” as mere speculation?
