PlayStation Virtual Reality price & release date announced

Few weeks ago GameStop CEO Paul Raines made a statement concerning when the PlayStation VR will be made available “We will launch the Sony product this fall” he said. The wait is over, Sony, during the annual Game Developers Conference (GDC) has finally announced the price and release date of the PlayStation VR. The device will be made available on October 2016 and will be sold for $ 399, €399, £349 and 44,980 yen. Sony has also released an official press kit containing a press release and lots of images of its new Virtual Reality device.

“Ever since we unveiled PS VR during the 2014 Game Developers Conference, we’ve received a tremendous response from gamers and developers alike,” said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. “To make sure that we are able to prepare and deliver enough units of PS VR and a wide variety of software titles to consumers worldwide, we have decided to launch PS VR in October 2016. For those who are looking forward to its launch, we would like to thank everyone for their patience and continued support. We are beyond excited to deliver to consumers the amazing experience that PS VR offers.”

Sony also revealed that more than 230 publishers and developers are working on PlayStation VR titles, so one should expect tons of games very soon.

We expect to have more than 50 games available from launch in October 2016 until the end of the year.

Sony also intends to make available “The Playroom VR” for all PS VR owners during launch to be downloaded free from the PlayStation Store, The Playroom VR will include six games.

PlayStation VR previously known by the codename Project Morpheus, is an upcoming virtual reality head-mounted display produced by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is designed to be fully functional with the PlayStation 4 video game system. The PlayStation VR is scheduled to launch in October 2016.
